Our consumers can be confident that workers involved in the making of our products receive fair wages and work under decent conditions. Our supply chains, local and international sub-contractors are compliant with Australian Ethical Laws and the Commonwealth Government’s Fair Work  Principles.

OFFICE AND ENVIRONMENT

Where possible, THE LOCALÉ GROUP purchases sustainable office products, which are manufactured with recycled paper and plastic content. THE LOCALÉ GROUP has created an internal Environmental Code of Practice to ensure all employees, suppliers and third parties work in accordance with these guidelines to do the right thing for our planet. THE LOCALÉ GROUP actively recycles materials where possible to develop a sustainable operation that supports our environment worldwide.

CHILD LABOUR

Manufacturers will not use child labour.

The term “child” refers to a person younger than 15 (or 14 where local laws allow) or, if higher, the local legal minimum age for employment or the age for completing compulsory education.

Manufacturers employing young persons who do not fall within the definition of “children” will also comply with any laws and regulations applicable to such persons.

NON - DISCRIMINATION

Manufacturers will not discriminate in hiring and employment practices, including salary, benefits, advancement, discipline, termination or retirement, on the basis of race, religion, age, nationality, social ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, political opinion or disability.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Manufacturers will provide employees with a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, ensuring at a minimum reasonable access to potable water and sanitary facilities; fire safety; and adequate lighting and ventilation.  Manufacturers will also ensure that the same standards of health and safety are applied in any housing that they provide for employees.

COMPENSATION

We expect manufacturers to recognise that wages are essential to meeting employee’s basic needs.  Manufacturers will, at a minimum, comply with all applicable wage and hour laws and regulations, including those relating to minimum wages, overtime, maximum hours, piece rates and other elements of compensation, and provide legally mandate benefits.

PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturers will comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations.

C.O.C FOR ETHICAL MANUFACTURING

THE LOCALÉ GROUP’s International Labour Standards (ILS) program evaluates and helps address working conditions in facilities producing THE LOCALÉ GROUP products.  These facilities are not owned or control by THE LOCALÉ GROUP but are business engaged by the independent licensees and vendors with whom we do business.  THE LOCALÉ GROUP has a Code of Conduct for Manufacturers since inception that is designed to be consistent with our core conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

C.O.C FOR MANUFACTURERS

Our Code of Conduct for Manufacturers sets forth requirements for manufacturers of our products with respect to labour standards and working conditions.  The principles embodied in our Code are designed to be consistent with core conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the specialised agency of the United Nations focused on the global labour standards, as well as codes set forth by key labour standards organisations.
